Taylor Housing Commission

Policies

The Taylor Housing Commission (THC) administers 981 Housing Choice Vouchers (HCV’s). The Housing Choice Voucher (HCV) program is commonly known as Section 8. In order to receive a voucher, a family must first apply to be added to the Waiting List. Applications for the Waiting List are only occasionally accepted, as the THC has a need to fill the Waiting List. AT ALL OTHER TIMES THE WAITING LIST REMAINS CLOSED, AND APPLICATIONS ARE NOT ACCEPTED.

On the occasions that the waiting list is opened, the THC will advertise in advance (In both print and electronic media) that the list will soon be opening, usually at least 15 days in advance. The best way to be informed of when the list will open is to check this website frequently.

Once an applicant reaches the top of the Waiting List, they are contacted to attend an entrance briefing, where their eligibility is verified, a voucher is issued and search for suitable housing begins.
